I was just about to write and tell you how the snow had avoided us and it has now newly started snowing. Ah well. At least we are snug in the house, and not having to put up with the painful 43C of Melbourne and Adelaide.
The main news is that our snowdrops appeared a week ago, and are now thick on the ground. We also have a crocus peeping through, and a huge swathe of erica carnea (well, winter flowering heather if your Latin is rusty.)
The second news is that yesterday we managed to wake at 0700 when B. had to drink TWO PINTS of water. Try it some time. Anyway she did,and 2 hours later she had an ultrasonic scan of her lower end, which the technician said was fine apart from some thickening of the endometrium, for which she will get a further appointment. Checking on Google, it seems to be something that can be sorted by balancing
hormones, and is only bad news if it isn't sorted.
The third news is that we had an interview with a pleasant Social Work lady today, to assess B for support. They aim to match her with a volunteer (but paid) carer, who will take her on outings once a week or so for 2-4 hours. So bang goes my fun in retail therapy, deciding which of the infinite variety of panties she should buy.
Seriously, it should be helpful.
Lastly, I enclose a pic of our first three that Jennifer Bowen took, and I scanned in to remind her. Her son Jeremy is chief Middle East editor for the BBC, and has been having a tiring time there, but did reply to an email I sent him about a lorry of aid supplies from Edinburgh. Hope you enjoy it - it's compressed to save your email box but if you would like it unshrunk, just say so.
Lots of love,
Zander and B.
