Funny things have been happening in 2009, and some not so funny.
Well even the unfunny ones might make you giggle.
B started last week with 2 days of severe sinus headache, which was
driven off by dear old penicillin. She's had a mixed week since
then, but has been reading her first book for years. That's good.
Z has been batty too - first thing yesterday morning, I poured the
water for my coffee into the grinder instead of the coffee machine,
and spent the day cleaning it. Well half the day.
Two nights before, I turned the porridge full on instead of off when
I went to bed, and was woken half an hour later by our smoke alarm,
which also triggers the home helpline to phone us. So I was rushing
naked round the kitchen flapping at the smoke and trying to talk
calmly to the lady on the helpline. The pan will still do for
boiling eggs - it's got that Wedderburn trait of a thick bottom.
Two novelties that might interest you. Our main home phone number
can now take (and send) text messages. It's a bit fiddly, and I
don't think B. will master it, but I just can - on a good day.
The other is a site the Claudie Smith told us about -
moneysavingexpert.com, which has a guide to how to do calls to Canada
at 1/2p a minute for example. I think it is UK-centric. In these
times of belt-tightening, the UK recipients might find it useful.
Lots of love,
xxxxxx
